地震时怎样保护自己

Chapter 79 - 79: Leaving or Staying (3)

Lu Weixi rubbed her eyes. She couldn’t be hallucinating from lack of sleep, could she? Qin Zhiyou was clearly out of town, and his social media status late last night had clearly shown him keeping vigil at the hospital. How could he be standing at her front door now?

Taking another look, it was indeed him. The back seat of the car door opened, and Qin Zhiyou, dressed in a black suit, got out. His hair was slightly disheveled, his eyes filled with dark circles. The sunlight spilled down from the top of his head, making his tall figure look like a sculpture made of jade.

It was, without a doubt, the real Qin Zhiyou.

After getting out of the car, Qin Zhiyou didn’t really look at her but was continuously discussing post-event management with Secretary Wang. Soon the servants parked the car in the garage. He prepared to enter the house, his expression as calm as ever. Still, Lu Weixi went forward and asked: “You’re back? Are those people okay?”

Hearing her question, Qin Zhiyou paused, raising his eyelids slightly and managed to squeeze out a grunt of affirmation. Wang, the secretary, added: “Young Madam, everyone is fine, no one is in a life-threatening situation.”

“That’s good.” At least there were no fatal incidents; she let out a sigh of relief. “I’m off to work now.”

No sooner than she had taken a few steps, Qin Zhiyou grabbed her arm. Somewhat puzzled, she turned her head to look at him, only to see Qin Zhiyou silent for a moment, then uttering a few unclear words: “Continue tonight.”

At first, Lu Weixi was somewhat confused. Continue what? Then she suddenly remembered the multiple-choice question he had presented her with the night before last.

Did this man have any shame at all! He had just finished dealing with this matter and now he wanted to… and in front of Secretary Wang and so many servants, too.

Luckily, he hadn’t spoken about the specifics, and the people around didn’t understand what he was referring to, so she quickly shook off his hold on her and hurriedly took a few steps to her car, then drove off hastily, giving off the vibe of a hasty getaway.

When she reached her office, a new task arrived, so she obediently took her place and nodded along to whatever the client was saying without adding any comments of her own. When the client wanted to go for tea, Xiaochen nudged her and she only then realized, she should probably use the restroom.

Looking at her somewhat unfocused reflection in the mirror, Lu Weixi knitted her brows. It wasn’t that she was moved or shy, she was just uncertain about what Qin Zhiyou was up to.

She splashed some water on her face to calm herself, then carefully dried the water droplets, changing her expression when she came out, facing her clients professionally and calmly: “I’m sorry about earlier. Let me explain some of the issues you were asking about.”

By six in the afternoon, it was time to clock off. Xiaochen and Xiaoqian glanced at each other, Lu Weixi still seated at her desk, looking as though she planned to stay the night again.

Xiaochen hesitated for a moment, then timidly asked, “Lu, are you working late again tonight?”

At this, Lu Weixi lifted her head from her desk, furrowing her brows slightly. Xiaochen, startled, was ready to say “I’ll stay late too”, but then saw Lu Weixi let out a long sigh, saying:”… No need. Let’s call it a day..”
