地震时怎样保护自己

Chapter 157 - 158: Between Advancement and Retreat (2)

Qin Zhiyou didn’t speak nor moved, maintaining the position of his arm propping the door.

Lu Weixi waited for a long time, but the man behind her remained motionless, not uttering a single word as if he were frozen in place.

The two were close though not touching. Yet, she could still feel his presence right behind her, his warm breath in each exhale. His breathing fanned gently on the back of her neck, causing her whisps of hair to sway slightly.

Feeling a tad restless, she turned around and said, “Can we leave? I need to change clothes.”

As she turned, the movement seemed to lightly brush against his chin. She could even feel the prickliness of his stubbly chin.

This sudden physical contact momentarily stunned both Lu Weixi and Qin Zhiyou.

Qin Zhiyou’s stance shifted a bit, leaning back slightly as if to avoid the unforeseen collision. Yet he only leaned back a smidge, his arm still propping the door, ensuring he moved not an inch.

Lu Weixi had a similar reaction. An outright, face-to-face confrontation did not faze her, yet this unexpected little bump was surprisingly unsettling and awkward.

Especially as they were standing so close, she looked at him to find his eyes fixated on her unblinkingly beneath his long eyelashes. She could even see her reflection in his eyes.

“Q.-,” she started but cut herself off as she realised that every time she spoke, Qin Zhiyou seemed to inch a bit closer.

And yet, she softened the single syllable. Sweet as sugar, the soft ‘q’ sounding tantalisingly similar to the word for ‘affection,’ making it even more intimate.

Qin Zhiyou didn’t say anything, but his eyelashes fluttered slightly, leaned close a bit more.

Initially, she was standing facing the door, her back to him. But after turning, she was with her back against the door. Unable to do anything but step back as he advanced, her back pressed against the door.

He was so close that if he were to lean in just a bit more, he would brush her lips.

Neither spoke nor moved, both maintaining this position, creating a quietness that filled the room.

After a while,

Lu Weixi recover from this subtle awkwardness. She didn’t have the time to engage in their coy game of cat-and-mouse. Today’s return of Cai Yiren was a wakeup call for her to climb higher. Although she still had a penalty of thirty thousand for the deal Qin Zhimei messed up, it wasn’t enough, she had to share it with the company.

When Qin Zhiyou showed no signs of moving, she hesitated, then swiftly lowered her head and slipped away, swiftly like a fish, sliding along the door frame. She quickly moved a few steps away to change her clothes. The dress she was wearing had a large opening at the back, allowing her to change into her conservative pyjamas swiftly.

After she finished and turned to look, although Qin Zhiyou had withdrawn his arm, he was still standing by the door with furrowed brows, seemingly lost in thought.

But soon, Qin Zhiyou strode over to the desk and turned on the computer. After that, the room was filled with the sound of clicking keyboard keys.

She didn’t think too much and started her skincare routine. When the lights were off and they both were resting, she sensed no movement from the man next to her.

Only after she fell asleep did Qin Zhiyou gently move closer, watching her for a while before finally raising his hand.

That’s when Lu Weixi awoke…
