This Game Is Too Realistic

Chapter 167.2: Second Wave of Refugees

After hearing the news, Chu Guang immediately released a mission and gathered two drivers who knew how to drive trucks and more than 30 players who were still online to go to Longevity Town to provide support.

Because the rewards the administrator gave were too much, many players who had just returned from Longevity Town followed him in excitement. They hadn’t even removed their equipment.

When passing the northern part of the Linghu Wetland Park, Chu Guang suddenly recalled that he seemed to have left a Brigade Commander of the Army at the brick factory, so he stopped by to take a look.

When he arrived at the brick kiln, everyone was asleep except for Yang Seconddog, who was in charge of the night watch, and another brick-burner.

Over the shack, snoring came and went.

Chu Guang found Yang Seconddog, looked at him, and asked, "How did the person I handed you do today? Did he slack off? Or was he rebellious?"

Yang Seconddog didn’t think much of it and replied respectfully when the administrator asked about the outsider.

"You mean the person from yesterday? He was quite hard-working, but he’s a little clumsy and doesn’t look very smart."

It seems that this man understands his situation quite well. Knowing when to yield and when not, no wonder he can be a Brigade Commander.

To Chu Guang, Vanus being so obedient saved him a lot of trouble.

"Mhm, thank you."

After learning about the situation here, Chu Guang turned around and went to the north gate to meet the players waiting there.

Two light trucks, carrying more than 30 people, set off in a mighty manner.

While Chu Guang and his members were on their way, it was a mess outside the north gate of Longevity Town.

Hundreds of refugees had circled around the gate, not daring to approach, nor showing any intention of leaving. Instead, they were negotiating with Luca who was standing at the gates.

Behind Luca were the guards led by Wrench.

Fifteen guards had been divided into two groups, with one group standing at the gate and another group on the wall, holding guns tightly in their hands on high alert.

Standing next to Wrench, the young guard did not dare to relax his vigilance at all, staring at the group of refugees in front of him, even carefully controlling the white breath he exhaled. "I knew it... Such big smoke will definitely attract bad people."

Another guard standing beside him cursed in a low voice, "How dare those people come close? Aren’t they afraid that we are marauders?"

"Hehe, you think they are good people? Look at those people, obviously, they all have shotguns behind their backs! I bet that if it wasn’t for the guns we’re holding, and the high wall we have built, we would have to fight a tough battle today!" The young guard whispered.

The other members of the guards next to him expressed their agreement, not doubting what he said. They didn’t even have the slightest disagreement.

In the wasteland, kindness was rarer than gold. People wouldn’t even trust their neighbors, let alone these homeless refugees…

When encountering a force stronger than them, each of them would be a little docile sheep. But if they encountered a force of survivors weaker than them, it would not be surprising that all of them would take off their sheep’s clothing and become hungry wolves.

Similar cases were no longer shocking news in the wasteland!

"The wind outside is too strong, our children and pregnant women are going to freeze to death... Please have some mercy, let us rest here for some time. We will leave when the snowstorm passes."

Standing in front of the refugee was a burly man with an iron-barreled rifle hanging on his back and a revolver on his waist not far from his right hand.

Luca also noticed that the corners of this man’s clothes had dried blood, but he wasn’t sure if it was the blood of a beast or a man.

Judging from the respect and awe in the eyes of the people around him when they looked at him, the man was probably their patriarch or leader, and his prestige among the group was not low.

To be able to travel long distances in the wasteland with so many people… It was indeed impossible for an incompetent leader to do something like that.

"I can’t make decisions on this, I have to wait for my master to come." Although standing in front of this strong man like a dead tree branch, Luca showed no signs of weakness.

His master was a monster who could even defeat the Bloodhand Clan, and even earned the respect of Enterprise of the East Coast.

A mere few refugees were not enough to frighten him.

The man stared at him and continued, "Where is he? Can I talk to him?"

"He’s on his way here. He’ll be there soon." Luca raised his chin slightly, looked him in the eye, and continued in a steady and calm tone, "By the way, shouldn’t you tell us your names first? You should tell us who you are, who the people behind you are, where you are from, and where you are planning to go."

The man stared at the old man silently without answering. After a long time, he glanced at the guards behind him and on the wall, as if to judge whether they were easy to deal with.

Luca frowned. "It seems that you don’t have the sincerity of telling us the truth, so we have nothing to talk about."

"I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to conceal anything." Seeing that Luca wanted to leave, the man said quickly, "My name is Li, and most of us are from the middle region of the River Valley Province."

"What do you mean by ’mostly’?"

Li nodded and continued, "We don’t come from the same survivor colony. At least half of the people here joined us halfway."

Luca frowned. "It doesn’t make sense. If it’s really like what you said, then why did you leave where you were? And why leave during the winter?"

"Because of the damn war! We don’t want to, but we have no other choices!" Li snapped angrily, "You should have heard that the Army has been fighting a war in the north. It’s been nearly a year now. The recent and sudden winter probably made them unable to continue the war, so a lot of people fled south."

Luca frowned. "You encountered the Army?"

Li said angrily, "No, we encountered the routed soldiers of the Army. Those people were no different from marauders, they snatched everything they saw! Motherfucker, I even felt that at least I could try to negotiate with them if they were marauders. But they are simply a bunch of scum! Beasts! Bastards!"

This burly man blurted out almost all the swear words in his mind, and detailed their atrocities in the northern and central regions.

However, Luca wasn’t focusing on these details. From what this person said, it seemed like...

The Army seems to have lost?

Or at least were about to lose.

After all, if it was an organized looting, it wouldn’t be done by a group of routed soldiers.

There was a look of surprise in Luca’s eyes.

The administrator seems to have said before that since the expeditionary force of the Army in the north could dispatch a full brigade of 2,000 people to intercept the Enterprise’s Pioneer, it meant that either they were going to win the war, or it was almost impossible for them to continue fighting the war so they wanted to rob the Pioneer before retreating.

If these people are telling the truth, then the administrator might have guessed right...

The surprise in Luca’s eyes gradually turned into one of admiration.

Li was still telling Luca how unfortunate they were, trying to persuade the old man in front of him to let them in.

As he was speaking, the sound of engines suddenly came from a distance.

There was a commotion among the refugees that surrounded the entrance, everyone had a panicked expression on their faces. Li also took half a step back cautiously, and put his right hand on the pistol on his waist.

Wrench stared straight at Li the moment he did so, and his thumb released the arbitrator’s safety. The guards next to him all raised their guns slightly.

Seeing that the atmosphere took a turn for the worse, Luca raised his hand quickly to signal everyone to calm down, despite the joy in his eyes. "Don’t be impulsive! It’s the administrator!"

The administrator?

Li Wei was dazed.

Two headlights in front of the truck suddenly flashed.

Li looked in the direction of the light, his eyes narrowed unconsciously. What he saw was a stalwart figure standing beside the truck with the lights on.

That man should be the administrator they were talking about.

Or to put it another way, he was the ruler.

But what made people impossible to ignore was not the exoskeleton on his body, the rifle on his back, or the warhammer he was carrying.

It was the warriors behind the man who were staring fiercely at him, and the rifles in their hands.

Facing the dazzling light, there was a chill in Li’s heart.

At the same time, a stately voice passed through the snow and came from afar.

"Put down your weapons and accept our arrangement.

"Or…”

"Go back to where you come from!"
