Chapter 200: Skyrazor Harbinger
They had not done anything to provoke the Skyrazor Harbinger, yet it still chose to ambush and attempted to kill them from the first strike.
To understand the grim situation they were in, the Skyrazor Harbinger was level 29, even more dangerous than the Ironhide Behemoth that they wanted to kill.
Additionally, this monster was an aerial type, meaning without sufficient preparation and strength, it was nigh impossible to deal with them.
"My Elementalists can't get close to assist Jeff," Carmen suddenly said, biting her lips softly.
Shortly after she regained her composure, she wanted to lessen the pressure Jeff was facing.
However, the Skyrazor Harbinger merely needed to flap its wings, creating fierce turbulence, and knocking out her Elementalists away.
Only Jeff was able to withstand the pressure, but based on how his foot was stamped heavily on the ground, showed that it required tremendous strength.
"Hmph, it's just some bigger Eagle beast." Jeff sneered, gripping his battle axe tightly, and stood his ground against the Skyrazor Harbinger.
His muscles tensed as the creature's massive claw came crashing down, sending a shockwave through the ground.
Although Jeff parried the attack with a powerful upward swing, the force of the blow vibrated through his arms. Sparks flew as metal met steel, the sound reverberating through the ravine.
A few seconds later, the Harbinger let out an ear-piercing screech, flapping its enormous wings and creating gusts of wind that nearly knocked Jeff off balance.
With fierce determination, he rolled to the side, narrowly avoiding another crushing blow from the creature's talons.
"Take this!" Jeff exclaimed as he retaliated. He swung his axe at its leg, the blade glancing off the metallic feathers but leaving a shallow gash.
The defensive structure of the Harbinger was hard to penetrate, and Jeff found it difficult to deal a heavy blow. At this moment, he suddenly noticed someone attempting to get close to the battle.
"Stay back!" Jeff shouted to Carmen, his voice barely audible over the chaos. "This thing is no joke!"
Hesitation appeared on Carmen's face as she didn't know what else to do. Discover hidden stories at m,v l'e-NovelBin.net
She wanted to get close so that her Elementalist when summoned wouldn't get blown off rapidly. Feeling hopeless, she turned to Xu Feng, who had been quiet during the entire time.
"Are you not going to support Jeff?" She asked, seemingly confused by his silent response to the situation.
"It's not that I don't want to support him, but there's really not much we can do." Xu Feng flatly responded. He didn't anticipate going up against a Harbinger, much less preparing any materials that could weaken it.
Without sufficient preparation, trying to assist Jeff at the moment would instead harm the latter.
"Is there really nothing we can do then?" Carmen furrowed her brows, returning her attention to the fierce battle between Jeff and Skyrazor Harbinger.
Although both parties remained uninjured, Carmen could tell Jeff was actually struggling a lot.
Just by having some basic common sense, one could tell the difference between how Jeff confronted the Raburles and other monsters in the forest versus the current Harbinger.
Right at this moment, the Harbinger suddenly flung Jeff away and launched itself into the air, circling above like a vulture eyeing its prey.
As Jeff raised his chin to glance upward, he suddenly realized its intention. The Harbinger didn't have its eyes on him, but somewhere else.
He quickly turned to Carmen and shouted, "Get away from there!"
Alas, the warning came a little too late, as the Harbinger swooped down with incredible speed, aiming its razor-sharp beak at Carmen.
Realizing the danger, Carmen swiftly summoned her Elementalists, hoping to block and brace herself for the attack. With the wind pressure directed at her, Carmen was forced to close her eyes despite trying to resist it.
CLANK!
A fierce metal clanking sound could be heard, but Carmen, with her eyes still closed, realized she hadn't received any damage.
'Did the Elementalists deflect the attack?' Confused, she slowly opened her eyes, only to see a person in the front, with their back facing her.
"F-Feng…" She stutteringly said, clearly astonished that it was Xu Feng who had deflected the attack.
As she knew he was a healer, she was positive that his defense was even lower than her. After all, healers were always protected, given how fragile they were in any battle.
However, such a concept was shattered once she witnessed an unbelievable event.
Not only did Xu Feng deflect the Harbiner's attack, but his health was full.
While Carmen was amazed by Xu Feng's actions, Jeff was terrified by his capability instead.
'Those consecutive actions… just how did he do that?' Jeff wondered silently.
When he noticed the Harbiner's goal was Carmen, he already thought the worst, given the distance between them.
Yet in that critical juncture, he witnessed Xu Feng summoned a shadow creature capable of confronting the Harbinger.
Although the shadow creature was still somewhat overwhelmed after a few seconds. He saw Xu Feng proceed to cast some sort of Divine Light, healing the shadow creature, and enabling it to continuously withstand the Harbinger's fierce attack until it lost its momentum.
That was all Jeff noticed, but if he had to make a guess, he was sure that more things had happened in those split seconds from Xu Feng's action. Otherwise, it would have been extremely difficult to even contest against the Harbinger's beak attack.
'No wonder he's a noble… such skills cannot be found in the town.' Jeff concluded.
Meanwhile, Xu Feng didn't care what thought process Jeff had evaluated on him as he commanded the shadow creature to counterattack.
He cast numerous buffs on the shadow creature, allowing it to fight head-on with the Harbinger temporarily.
Shortly after, he turned his attention to Carmen and asked, "Are you alright?"
