Chapter 168 - Surrender
When Tim and Lysa saw Chen Rui, they bowed at the same time. Tim said, “Sir Chen Rui, forgive me for asking, but are you leaving the underground world?”
Chen Rui was slightly surprised and replied, “Yes, because Athena needs one more thing to successfully wake up. I’m going to look for it.”
“I see,” Tim nodded. “However, even if Miss Athena is fine, Sir Chen Rui doesn’t plan to stay here for long right.”
“Tim, let’s not beat around the bush. Do you want to leave here and return to Dark Moon?”
“I haven’t gone back to my family for two years,” Tim sighed. “However I’m not here today because of this. Here’s the thing, is Sir Chen Rui willing to accept the allegiance of the Medusa Tribe and myself?”
This proposal really surprised Chen Rui. Is this the legendary demeanor of the king? Once I release my vibe, everyone comes to surrender?
Tim then explained that at present, there were only three forces left in the underground world, which were the earth elementals, taurens and medusas. The earth elementals had their own rules. Taurens and medusas were originally enemies. Due to the common enemy Glorfin, they temporarily formed an alliance.
Now that the common enemy was eliminated, it was difficult to predict whether they would turn against each other and become enemies in the future. Queen Medusa, the only one who could match the Chief Tauren had already died in the battle with Glorfin. Moreover, the taurens could create excellent weapons and equipment now. Due to this, the difference in power between the Medusa Tribe and taurens was even more disparate.
Lysa was now the leader of the Medusa Tribe; it was impossible for her to leave. She was also still pregnant with Tim’s child. Tim was not planning to leave for the time being. The best way now was to surrender to Chen Rui. Although Chen Rui’s own strength had not yet reached the Demon King level, his magical powers were emerging endlessly. The most important thing was that Chen Rui was a benefactor of the Tauren Tribe and earth elementals. Even if the taurens wanted to turn against them, the earth elementals would not sit idly and watch Chen Rui’s “tribe” get destroyed. This suggestion to surrender had been unanimously approved by the Medusa Tribe.
“Sir Chen Rui, you have incredible power. You even exceeded expectations and destroyed Demon Overlord-level Glorfin. You also have resurrection potions. This secret is enough to shake the entire Demon Realm. If you don’t want to kill me to silence me, please accept my genuine surrender.” Tim knelt on one knee, and a master-servant contract materialized in his hands.
Tim was really a clever man. He chose to surrender not only for the interests of the Medusa Tribe, but also for personal reasons. Chen Rui initially considered this issue. Now Tim had taken the initiative to surrender along with a strong Medusa Tribe. Of course, he wouldn’t let go of this kind of steady profit business.
Chen Rui tried it. He was able to accept the master-slave contract as expected. After signing the contract immediately, the light entered both their bodies and the master-slave relationship was established. Lysa did not sign a contract, but solemnly took the Medusa vow of faith on behalf of the entire tribe. To intelligent demonic beasts, the binding force of this vow of faith was no less than a master-servant contract.
Tim was definitely a talent. He had extraordinary abilities in leadership, military and diplomacy. Among the Medusa Tribe, there were Demon King medusas and many Higher Demon medusas. Besides the young demonic beasts, the weakest was also Intermediate Demon level. Medusas’ petrification ability and long-range shooting were powerful combat abilities. If Cloak Gang was just an accidental temporary organization, then the Medusa Tribe was considered Chen Rui’s true crew. As long as he could obtain the Eye of Sauron in the future, the taurens’ forces would also join the crew.
Chen Rui was not that ambitious, but in the Demon Realm where the strong would eat the weak, power was the most important rule of survival. Almost no one would sympathize with the weak. Chen Rui didn’t want to be the weak either. Happiness was not secretly curling up in the corner to blow bubbles. This kind of temporary illusion couldn’t withstand any touch or destruction. He needed to ensure that his future happiness was truly in his hands, just like the determination to grasp his own fate.
Mountain Xilang, residential area.
“It’s bad, Sir Snowden!”
Snowden, who was resting on the bed, bounced nervously, cursing: “Are those wyverns here again?”
As the head of the Red Devils (Scarlet Guards), Snowden had been in Mountain Xilang for several days already. It was really pitiful for him; he was enjoying the leisurely and comfortable days of Red Spirit Estate without having to return to this bitter cold place of Town Leia or even Mountain Xilang. However, before staying for long, a major event happened in Town Leia.
Joseph’s subordinate Barnacle organized the Scarlet Guards to launch a riot, causing the death of Town Leia’s mayor, Old Kander. The Scarlet Guards were completely destroyed. Barnacle’s corpse was also found at the north road of Town Leia. He was probably killed. This incident shocked the higher-ups of Red Spirit Estate. Although there were some peculiarities, the result could not be changed anymore.
The new mayor of Town Leia decided that the Res Spirit Estate’s forces that abandoned the town would not be tolerated, and Red Spirit could no longer control the west passage of Dark Moon using Town Leia as base.
Although the reason Snowden returned to Red Spirit this time was to report to his boss, Kanita, instead of sneaking back from his “vacation”, but as the head of the Scarlet Guards, he could not escape the responsibility of this disastrous defeat. Fortunately, Barnacle, the person directly responsible for the failure, was Joseph’s subordinate. Kanita promptly decided to place all responsibilities on Joseph’s head. He put special emphasis on Barnacle’s killing of Culia and other “internal fights” in attempt to use this to beat Joseph.
Joseph was not a weakling. He pointed out various suspicions and determined that the biggest beneficiary of this incident was Princess Royal Shea of Dark Moon, but Shea obviously did not have this ability, otherwise the passage to the west of Dark Moon would have been taken already. Obviously, the sacrificial pawn of this incident was Barnacle, who was Joseph’s forces. Therefore, the actual beneficiary could only be Kanita. In order to weaken and frame his brother, he did not hesitate to destroy Red Spirit’s plan to control the west passage of Dark Moon!
The two sides held their own words, and the argument went on endlessly. Red Spirit Lord Josh was unable to make a decision for the time being. He put the blame on both parties equally. After some suppression and compromise, Joseph continued to return to Dark Moon. Kanita was responsible for cleaning up the failure at Mountain Xilang. He must continue to control the west passage of Dark Moon.
This way, before Snowden could spend a long amount of time at Red Spirit, he was forced to rush back. Furthermore, he could no longer stay comfortably in Town Leia; he could only come to this awful place, Mountain Xilang.
When Snowden came to Mountain Xilang in depression, he was surprised to find that the miners had returned to the Mountain Xilang residence, while the Red Devils bandits were uncharacteristically huddled in Mountain Walan.
It was known from the mouths of the bandits that the horrible demonic beast, the spirit dragon from the main pit killed Sully and Yagus. Culia went to Mountain Lugang to kill the new human mining officer, but he was suddenly defeated by the traitor Lennon. As he was returning, he was almost killed by the spirit dragon. Due to the destruction of the communication tower, Culia urgently went to Town Leia to report it and ordered the bandits to hide in Mountain Walan temporarily.
Snowden nodded secretly. The other party had Higher Demon or even Demon King-level powerhouses. Culia’s order could not be disobeyed, and the Red Devils’ power in Town Leia had been wiped out. The manpower Culia ordered to stay in Mountain Walan managed to maintain a little bit of power. Unfortunately, Culia died in Town Leia, and even Sully and Yagus died. If he didn’t bring Higher Demon named Ivan over this time, no one would be available.
Soon, they received news from the bandits that were sent to Mountain Xilang to get news. “Lennon” had already left Mountain Xilang, and the daughter of the Empire’s First General, Athena and human mining officer, Chen Rui had disappeared in the lower layer of the main pit. They had been no news from them for the past few days. They probably met the same fate as the former mining officer, Tim, who died in the mouth of demonic beasts, probably that scary spirit dragon.
Although Athena’s death was somewhat troublesome, Snowden had no scruples and ordered the bandits to attack the entire Mountain Xilang. The miners and guards had no resistance at all. They were immediately controlled by Snowden’s force. They were collectively held in the Mountain Walan where the bandits initially lived. If it weren’t for Kanita’s orders, Snowden really wanted to kill all these troublesome miners. At this time, Snow found a good “thing” left behind by Athena, the wyvern cub.
If he could make this cub submit, moving around in this desolate awful place would be more convenient. Even if he had to turn in the Red Spirit Estate, it would still be a merit, especially when he needed to make amends for his previous faults.
The wyvern cub only had the power of an Intermediate Demon. With his Demon King-level power, it would naturally be effortless, but this decision soon made Snowden regret immensely.
When the cub was caught alive, it let out some chilling noises. It somehow attracted an adult wyvern. It was initially a good thing to have one more wyvern, but this wyvern turned out to be Demon King-level! Not only that, three more came later. All of which were Demon King level!
Snowden was in the early stage of the Demon King level at present. The weakest of these wyverns was also in the early stage. At the same level, demonic beasts were more powerful than ordinary demons. This kind of battle was impossible.
When did Mountain Xilang have Demon King-level wyverns! Is there an undiscovered wyvern lair nearby?
Now, it was like he had poked the demonic hornet’s nest. The wyvern cub was rescued, and the bandits experienced serious casualties. Fortunately, Snowden was proficient in magic circles. He initially cast defensive magic circles to defend against the spirit dragon, so he could barely fend off the wyverns.
Even worse, these wyverns were very vengeful. They attacked every few days, making Snowden afraid to live in the mine again. He could only return to the residential area with the magic circle. Yesterday’s attack almost completely destroyed the defensive magic circle. If the wyverns returned this time, no matter how much the Red Spirit Estate would blame him, he could only escape to Mountain Xilang.
“No!” The dark elf bandit who was giving the report said out of breath.
Snowden was extremely angry. A slap caused the dark elf to fall to the ground. “It’s not the wyverns, then what are you panicking about!”
The dark elf bandit covered his face. He felt wronged and said, “Sir, the brother who is guarding the mountain just came to report that a strange vibration occurred in the main pit. It may be the spirit dragon.”
“Spirit dragon!” Snow’s face changed. Although he had never seen this terrible demonic beast, from the bandits’ description and Athena’s disappearance, its power was absolutely not a trivial matter. If it was truly some kind of mutated dragon, it could be Demon Emperor or Demon Overlord level!
Snowden hastily walked out of the residential area. The outside was full of scared bandits. If it were not for Ivan’s scolding, they would have fled in all directions.
Everyone was on guard for a long time, but they didn’t see any spirit dragon. Snowden scolded the bandits. Just then, the familiar wyvern’s hiss sounded in the sky, the bandits who were already frightened could not stand still anymore. They fled in four directions without bothering much.
A spirit dragon and a wyvern, why am I so unlucky!
“Damn!” Snowden said helplessly. He never wanted to face these terrible aerial demonic beasts again. He called Ivan over to “retreat strategically” in the direction of Mountain Walan.
Before they could retreat far, Snowden suddenly showed alertness. One person already appeared in front of him without warning, blocking the way.
A man wearing a cape and a mask. The mask seemed to be a bit broken at the top.
Snowden would never expect to be a test subject by the masked man
