Chapter 146 - 147: To Return or Not to Return (3)
“Hmm.” Qin Zhiyou glanced at her indifferently. When he wasn’t at home, she definitely wouldn’t be wearing the clothes that Mrs. Yang bought for her. His gaze shifted downwards to see her getting out of bed barefoot, instantly furrowing his brows. “What, don’t want to see me? Go back to bed.”
His tone was slightly annoyed, evidently suppressing anger.
Lu Weixi returned to the bed, pulled up the covers and sat on the edge. After some thought, she got up to prepare his change of clothes and towel. Qin Zhiyou didn’t acknowledge her, removing his coat and heading directly for the bathroom. He emerged after a short shower, sitting on the bed with his back turned to her. After drying himself and changing into his pajamas, he turned off the lights, pulled back the covers and slipped in.
The room quickly reverted back to silence. Lu Weixi was laying on the bed staring at the crystal chandelier on the ceiling, wanting to speak with him but couldn’t find a way to start the conversation. She had a client meeting the next morning and tasks in the afternoon. It was getting late, and she sincerely hoped that no more issues would arise.
Qin Zhiyou was lying right next to her, quiet for now. The steam from his recent shower mixed with his body heat and the scent of his shower gel flowed into her nose. She didn’t dare move, fearing that any movement would provoke him.
Lu Weixi was already nervously wound up and couldn’t fall asleep. After staying motionless for a while, she felt discomfort in her arm and legs. There wasn’t a single part of her that felt relaxed, and after what felt like an eternity, she figured Qin Zhiyou must be asleep by now. She carefully adjusted her arm, straightened her leg, and was just about to roll over when she heard a rustling sound.
Lu Weixi, with her body at a forty-five-degree angle, froze in mid-air upon hearing the noise, like she had been struck by a paralyzing spell.
She didn’t move, but Qin Zhiyou did. He turned his back to her, took a large portion of the covers and went back to sleep. Lu Weixi held her unusual posture for a while longer and only relaxed after hearing no movement from behind.
But once she relaxed, she realized that most of the blanket on her side had been rolled away. Although summer was nearly here, having the covers too loose might cause a cold. In order to cover herself, she had to move a little closer to Qin Zhiyou’s side.
Given a choice between waking him up and catching a cold, Lu Weixi hesitated briefly before deciding to avoid the latter.
She had to slowly inch backward like a snail, trying her best not to make any noise, wishing only for more of the covers.
However,
Just before she reached Qin Zhiyou, still a few centimeters away, the man behind her suddenly turned around and bluntly asked, “Lu Weixi, what are you doing?”
He was truly awake now, leaving Lu Weixi confused: “Nothing, I was just…”
Although Qin Zhiyou’s voice was a little hoarse, she could still hear the anger and annoyance. “You’re doing this on purpose, aren’t you? You’re not letting me sleep, do you realize how noisy you are?”
She had been very gentle in her movements and didn’t touch him, how did he wake up?
Qin Zhiyou’s voice, blunt and cold, rang in her ears, “If you don’t want to sleep, go to the next room. I have an important meeting tomorrow. It was already annoying enough to rush back tonight.”
Lu Weixi immediately stopped moving, settling back flatly onto the bed and declaring, “Going to sleep.”
However, the man beside her reached out his arm, pulled her into his embrace and locked her arms and legs in place..
