Chapter 211 - 212: A Moment of Trance (4)
She despised Bai Changyou to the point of wishing for the immediate collapse of the Bai Family. Although Cai Yiren and her mother were detestable, if Bai Changyou was not led astray by temptation, things would not have escalated to this point.
They’ve been husband and wife for decades, father and daughter, and it’s enough for them to part ways. But to be so heartless as to not even offer money for his wife’s medical treatment…
This was not the first time Qin Zhiyou had seen this side of Lu Weixi. Five years ago, when she fell out with her father and broke up with Qin Zhisu, she was the same. After five years, her attitude towards Qin Zhigu softened, but her hatred for Bai Changyou did not wash away with time. Instead, it festered, sunk, and became more intense.
Qin Zhiyou stayed calm. He could be as partial as he liked to Lu Weixi in his private life, but once it came to official matters, he was extremely rational and professional. His decisions could not be swayed by emotions, especially when it came to a partnership with a company.
The Bai Family’s scale wasn’t huge, but Bai Changyou managed it quite well. In recent years, they’ve focused on high-end bespoke villas, luxury residences, resorts, and boutique care homes, a less common approach domestically. This approach was well-liked in Australia and gained a good reputation. Although the real estate industry in China was more closely linked with policy and personal relationships, they would not be devoid of development opportunities upon returning home.
Qin Zhiyou slowly began, “I’m the CEO of Hanhai Group, and I hold some shares in it. Still, most of Hanhai’s shares are with my grandfather, and the second and third branches also hold a significant amount.”
Lu Weixi nodded. She knew that Qin Zhiyou might be the CEO, but the CEO only has executive power. Significant project collaborations would need to involve group discussions with the board of directors. Although Qin Zhiyou’s distinct ability had gradually suppressed the second and third branches these years, no one knew what the future might hold for the company. Who could tell if there would be striking deals that would sway them?
“I’m a businessman. In business, we speak business. If the Bai Family truly made significant concessions and offered us substantial kickbacks, even if I disagreed, the board would approve.”
She knew, she knew all along, but she was damn displeased.
Stood next to him, Lu Weixi felt a slight chill in her heart.
However…
“But…” Qin Zhiyou suddenly spoke, giving her a shallow glance, “That is to say, if their concessive actions are insufficient, or the benefits offered are not big enough, I will prioritize other companies under the same or slightly lesser conditions. I think that the other directors would agree with me on this.”
Lu Weixi was taken aback, her eyes instantly shooting up to meet Qin Zhiyou’s. He still had that same cold, calculating look, but for some reason, hearing these words made her trust him more than if he had readily agreed.
“Thank you, really, thank you.”
Lu Weixi bowed her head slightly, feeling for the first time, they were truly husband and wife. A marriage is supposed to be a community of common interests, where partners share weal and woe.
Qin Zhiyou slowly glanced at her again and added, “But since I promised you such a big condition, in exchange, you have to agree to a request from me, right?”
Lu Weixi was a little surprised. Without thinking too much, she nodded slowly.
Quin Zhiyou’s eyes darted around, “I don’t ask for much, just two things…”
He curled his lips and whispered his demands into her ear. Lu Weixi said nothing, but her cheeks, neck, and ear tips all became red.
This…damn tightwad!
