Vol. 11 - Chapter 577 - The good and bad of the God of Magic Isiris
Larappa ran around, her eyes twinkling like a girl in an amusement park for the first time.
"You're right, Boss. There's another new type over there!!"
While the dwarves ran around with excitement, Allen took out his Grimoire.
"Hawks, search for the God of Magic."
'Piii!!'
Allen used Bird E summons to search the large floor. After an hour of searching, all he could find were golems and a cube device.
"She isn't on this floor, let's go to the next one."
"Whaaaaaaaat? But I want to stay here longer."
"Try to leave it for later please."
They all gathered around the cube, though Larappa and her dwarves looked displeased.
"Please take us to the next floor."
'Understood, you'll be teleported to the next floor.'
Once they stepped on the magic circle, the light came out and they were teleported.
"There's magic devices here…are those water purifying ones? They look a bit different though."
The third floor was filled with magic devices.
(Magic ships, golems, and now magic devices. I guess they'll get smaller the higher we go.)
While Larappa looked at the magic devices, Cecile headed to the cube device.
"Hey you, do you know where the God of Magic is?"
'Unknown.'
The cube device did not know anything. The first and second floor's did not know, so it was hard to believe the third one would, but Cecile wanted to make sure.
"What? Then who knows where she is? Do you know where the angels serving her are?"
'There are no angels serving the God of Magic.'
"Huh? She's not the Great Spirit God, there's no way…"
'Under strict orders from the God of Creation Elmea, no angels are allowed to set foot in this facility.'
"You're not making any sense!!"
It seemed like there were only cube devices and the God of Magic in there. Allen continued checking with his Bird E summons, and then recalled something Merus said.
(Merus deserves some time off every once in a while, thankfully he gave me the information with anticipation.)
Merus had told Allen about the God of Magic Isiris a few days ago. When the Demon King's army attacked, Merus died and became a summon, and his twin sister Lupto became the First Angel. She had told him something. Allen decided to relay that information to Cecile.
"Apparently there used to be an Archangel named Mara serving the God of Magic, who betrayed her to let the Demon King's Army into the divine realm. Now no angels are allowed to enter this Temple."
"Huh? What are you talking about? Ah, I guess Merus told you that. Wait what? Mara…"
"Yeah, it's probably the same Mara we saw near the Demon King."
Allen's group had met the Demon King in Prostia, when they tried reviving the Evil God. There was someone there named Mara, with black wings and a floating ring, and had better healing power than Kiel.
As an Archangel, Mara had stolen the key to the divine realm, after looking for that chance for many years while pretending to be a good servant, and gaining Isiris' trust. Then the key was stolen, and the Demon King's Army invaded. The Demon King's Army made a beeline for Freya's Temple to steal her Divine Artifact, and that was also done under the advice of Mara, at least according to Lupto.
"The Demon King's Army also attacked Rosenheim as a distraction, right?"
Cecile watched Larappa ogling everything as she recounted the events as well.
"Yeah, and then they used the Divine Artifact to start the Evil Cult in the Gyariat Continent."
It was all to resurrect the Evil God and make the Demon King stronger. After invading the divine realm, the Demon King's Army stole the Divine Artifact and advanced their plan. 3 million elves died in Rosenheim during that time, and a similar number perished to the Evil Cult. That was all caused by Mara's betrayal.
"So it all started here."
"Maybe. At least it seems like the Demon King's Army needed this place for their plan."
They were standing in a key location for the Demon King's Army's past actions.
"But why are you telling me that?"
"Well, it's best if you know that before meeting Isiris."
"I'm not going to blame the God of Magic Isiris just for that, but thanks. Also, you should address her properly as the God of Magic."
Allen was trying to stop Cecile from getting too annoyed at the God of Magic's actions.
"And that's that. She doesn't seem to be on this floor, so let's go to the next. Larappa, we're going up!!"
(I guess Lupto researched what happened since her brother was killed.)
Merus and Lupto had served the God of Creation Elmea for 100'000 years. It made sense for Lupto to want to know what led to her brother's death. While Allen spoke to Cecile, the summons had searched the floor and found nothing, so they went to the next, Cecile looking visibly annoyed.
"Wait, what are those?! Accessories?!!"
"Boss, this is incredible. Not even the Tower of Trials had accessories like this!!"
After magic ships, golems, and magic devices, came a showcase of accessories. There were rings, necklaces, earrings, and many more encased in glass. As they went up, the rooms became smaller, so the items contained within also got smaller. The dwarves were all excited again, but they knew they would not stay there for long.
(The good and bad of the God of Magic…I guess it's too early to blame her for Mara stealing the key though.)
With angels no longer allowed there, Allen's group had no guide. But the endless collections of items showed everything Isiris had created for humans, which helped them with fighting monsters, and in some cases even saved the lives of people.
"The condition to become a Higher God was to have multiple Gods serving one, and governing multiple topics, right?"
"So the God of Magic Isiris is getting closer to become a Higher God…"
"I think so."
Isiris governed over magic, magic devices, and accessories, and Dungeon Master Digragni had recently become a God. That brought Isiris closer to becoming a Higher God.
15 minutes later they got ready to go to the next floor. There they encountered more of Isiris' marvels, this time surrounded by an incessant bubbling sound.
(What's this? This looks like a crazy laboratory. Wait, these are…)
"Huh? What are these? Dwarves?"
Cecile was shocked, and the dwarves were lost for words. There were enormous test tubes, large enough for people to fit in, connected to magic devices. They were filled with a bubbling liquid, and bodies bobbing up and down. Those bodies were the size of kids, from the race one commonly saw in Baukis. There were around 10 dwarves in such tubes in front of Allen's group.
"Huh? Then the God of Magic Isiris is using this research facility to…"
Cecile hesitated to finish her sentence in front of Larappa, who stared wide eyed.
"I guess this means the God of Magic created dwarves."
Allen finished Cecile's words, and he recalled the story of elves that Formar had told him. Elves had been created by the Great Spirit God Easley to protect the World Tree. They started as elf lords, then split into dark elves and elves.
(I see, so that's also why dwarves use golems.)
Allen thought of the dwarves' particular features. Only dwarves were born with Talents like Magic Rock General to control golems. There were also many dwarves with Magic Engineering or Magic Crafting Talents. That made perfect sense if one considered that both dwarves and those Talents were made by Isiris. The pipes connecting the test tubes were a bit smaller, and it almost looked like dwarves had been made small like children so they could fit through them.
"I see, so this is how we were created and born…"
"Boss…"
Larappa began to cry seeing the source of her life, and the dwarves following her also began to cry with her.
"The God of Magic Isiris doesn't seem to be on this floor either, let's go to the next one."
As they got closer to the top of the pyramid structure, the floors became smaller and took less time to search. This one had only taken a handful of minutes. Next they appeared in what looked like a museum or a library, filled with the smell of old paper.
"Wait, what's happening?! Huh, a magic circle?"
Cecile took a piece of paper from the documents that fell on her, and checked what was written on it. She could not understand it, but she knew it was related to magic.
(I see, so this is where she researches magic.)
It did not look as impressive as the magic devices, but Larappa also looked curious about the contents of the different papers strewn about.
Rustle rustle
"Hm? There's someone here!!"
Filled with hope, Cecile moved away the fallen documents and revealed a woman behind.
