The Young Urban Doctor

Chapter 200: Petulance

Yang Qingyin stood in the dark waiting for a while before the person she was expecting appeared promptly.

It was none other than the woman who had accompanied Yang Qingyin to the police station to rescue Luo Ziling last time.

“Miss, are you waiting for me?” Upon seeing Yang Qingyin, the woman asked in a subdued voice, bowing her head.

“Come to report on the task yourself,” Yang Qingyin’s face no longer bore the tenderness she had when with Luo Ziling but had turned to a cold expression instead.

Her smiling face could charm to death, but her cold look could scare someone half to death.

“Miss, it was I who told the lady about your whereabouts.” The woman named Xiaoli immediately confessed honestly, “The lady kept instructing me to meet Miss’s friend, so I…”

“From tomorrow on, stop following me,” said Yang Qingyin as she turned and walked away.

“Miss,” Xiaoli panicked when she heard this, “I know I was wrong and will never dare to do it again. Please forgive me.”

Xiaoli knew Yang Qingyin’s temperament well—she was a fiercely spirited woman who acted very decisively. They had a very good relationship, having trusted each other all along. Although their relationship was that of a mistress and servant, they were as close as sisters. She knew precisely why Yang Qingyin made such an unforgiving decision today—the young lady was angry because she felt betrayed by someone. She informed Chen Qiaoyu of Yang Qingyin’s movements that evening, and Yang Qingyin thought that her attendant had betrayed her, thus was angry and did not want her to follow anymore.

Xiaoli had been with Yang Qingyin for many years, ever since Yang Qingyin was in junior high school, serving as her personal bodyguard.

After six or seven years of growing feelings, Yang Qingyin’s blunt assertion, telling her not to follow anymore, made Xiaoli realize the severity of the situation. She hurried forward, blocking Yang Qingyin’s path, repeatedly admitting her fault and hoping to be forgiven by Yang Qingyin.

“Under my mother*’s coercion, you succumbed to her and betrayed me. If in the future you encounter even greater pressure, you might as well kill me with your own hands,” Yang Qingyin said, looking at Xiaoli with icy eyes, “I don’t need someone with such loyalty by my side.”

With that, she sidestepped the blocking Xiaoli and turned to leave again.

“Miss, I won’t dare to do it again in the future. I hope you can forgive me this time.” In her desperation, Xiaoli blocked Yang Qingyin’s path once more, “This is the first and last time.”

Yang Qingyin remained silent, not looking at Xiaoli, but did not hurry away either.

Seeing Yang Qingyin’s reaction, Xiaoli breathed a slight sigh of relief and quickly added another apology: “Miss, I’m sorry, please forgive me this once.”

“Considering the seven years you have followed me, I’ll forgive you this time,” Yang Qingyin stared at Xiaoli for a good while before finally speaking, “But this is also the last time. I don’t want to be betrayed again.”

“Thank you, Miss. I will definitely remember the lesson,” Xiaoli exclaimed with a sigh of relief, assuring her, without offering any further explanations.

Actually, she wanted to say that it was Chen Qiaoyu who repeatedly pressured her and that she had no choice but to agree. She thought the matter was not significant; it was just a mother wanting to see her daughter’s boyfriend, a normal situation, and she also hoped Luo Ziling would be accepted by Yang Qingyin’s parents.

But faced with Yang Qingyin’s anger, she chose to admit her mistake and not justify her reasons for doing so.

“I will be traveling during the National Day holiday, you will be driving,” Yang Qingyin instructed Xiaoli on another matter, without blaming her further.

“Yes,” Xiaoli promptly agreed.

Yang Qingyin added another instruction: “It will be just you with me, the others need not follow.”

“Understood,” Xiaoli agreed very straightforwardly once again.

Yang Qingyin thought for a moment, then added another sentence, “Don’t let my parents or anyone else know.”

“Yes,” Xiaoli agreed again very decisively, without a second of hesitation.

It was then that Yang Qingyin was satisfied and turned to enter the apartment building.

Luo Ziling, of course, didn’t know that such an incident had occurred behind him. Today’s events had excited him so much that when he lay in bed back in his dorm room, he tossed and turned, unable to sleep.

“Boss, did something special happen today? You seem preoccupied,” Cao Jianhui, who slept in the next bed, couldn’t help but ask, “What’s the good news? Can you share it with us?”

When Luo Ziling came back, they hadn’t gone to sleep yet. Seeing Luo Ziling return, the three of them ganged up on him with questions, but Luo Ziling didn’t disclose anything.

“It’s nothing, just fretting over a difficult case,” lied Luo Ziling, “Let it be, let’s all sleep.”

Seeing Luo Ziling a bit impatient, Cao Jianhui didn’t dare to ask further.

The next day, Luo Ziling didn’t go to military training with the other three guys but followed Lin Lan back to Dragon Rise’s base to treat Li Haiyang.

Just before parting the day before, Luo Ziling had dropped a threat, saying that if Lin Lan continued to treat him so coldly, he wouldn’t come for the treatment even if she came to fetch him. This threat seemed to have some effect; when they met in the morning, Lin Lan took the initiative to greet him, and her face wasn’t as cold as before. Luo Ziling was quite satisfied with this, feeling somewhat smug, believing he had found a good way to get a hold over Lin Lan.

“I’ve said before, you look quite pretty without a scowl. Why keep up the ice-cold front all the time?” As the car swiftly approached the base, Luo Ziling couldn’t help but tease Lin Lan.

“It’s none of your business,” Lin Lan responded irritably.

“How can it be none of my business?” Luo Ziling got a bit angry, “Every day you pick me up, it’s just the two of us in the car. With you being cold, I’m definitely uncomfortable, and when I’m uncomfortable, I feel upset.”

Lin Lan looked at Luo Ziling seriously for a moment, then coolly said, “You can treat me the same way.”

“Fine, then don’t come to pick me up tomorrow,” Luo Ziling suddenly got angry and said indignantly, “I’m providing free treatment for your leader every day, and this is the attitude you give me.”

He was truly angry.

Lin Lan looked at him strangely for a moment and immediately stopped the car, “You can get out right now.”

Without a moment’s hesitation, Luo Ziling pushed open the car door, got out, and walked away without looking back.

This woman was really too much, treating him like that. Angry, Luo Ziling walked swiftly away without turning his head.

After walking roughly two to three hundred meters, he heard the roar of a car engine behind him, but Luo Ziling didn’t pay any heed and continued walking forward.

Soon, the imposing Hummer that Lin Lan was driving passed him and stopped a few meters ahead of him.

The car door opened, and Lin Lan, clad in black leather jacket and pants, jumped down from the driver’s seat and stood in front of Luo Ziling.

Luo Ziling ignored her, walked around her, and continued on.

“I’m sorry,” came Lin Lan’s apology from behind at that moment.
