The Young Urban Doctor

Chapter 287: 287: Despised

It then dawned on Luo Ziling that this woman wanted to teach him how to shoot, and his heart leapt with joy.

He hurriedly quickened his pace to follow her.

Without looking back, Lin Lan walked directly to a shooting bay and stopped.

Luo Ziling caught up to her, standing side by side with her.

Lin Lan drew her gun again, her movement still swift, but after drawing it, she raised the imposing handgun in front of Luo Ziling and briefly explained its features.

“This is the safety, you can shoot only after it’s turned off, this is the trigger, pull here to shoot, and this is the magazine, it holds the bullets…”

Luo Ziling listened intently from the side.

After a brief introduction, Lin Lan raised the gun and fired at the target in front of her.

With a loud bang, the bullet was discharged, startling Luo Ziling.

“Your turn,” Lin Lan handed Luo Ziling the gun and pointed to the target, “Shoot there.”

Luo Ziling eagerly took the gun and shot just like Lin Lan had done.

The bang of the gunshot and the substantial recoil made him jump, almost losing grip on the gun. Fortunately, his quick reflexes allowed him to tighten his grip, saving himself from embarrassment.

After a single shot, Luo Ziling didn’t continue to shoot. Instead, he cheerfully ran to the target about thirty meters away to check his shooting score. “Yes, it’s a bullseye,” he exclaimed with excitement upon seeing the bullet hole in the target.

From the shooting bay, Lin Lan curled her lips, holding back laughter, and finally said with disdain, “That was my shot, your bullet missed.”

“What?!” Luo Ziling, in the midst of his excitement, felt a heavy blow upon hearing Lin Lan’s words.

Examining the target carefully, he indeed saw only one bullet hole and ultimately believed Lin Lan’s statement.

“The Desert Eagle has a strong recoil, you need to use some strength when holding it,” Lin Lan reminded him as he walked back to the shooting bay.

“Okay,” though disappointed, Luo Ziling quickly adjusted his mood and lifted the gun to shoot again.

With the previous lesson in mind, he wasn’t startled by the recoil this time. The handgun’s muzzle just lifted slightly, and he held it steady. Fearing that he would miss again, he didn’t rush to check his shooting results but continued to fire.

Bang, bang… the sound of bullets being discharged, the substantial recoil, and the faint smell of gunpowder filled Luo Ziling with excitement.

“Click,” when he pulled the trigger again, there was no anticipated sound or significant recoil. Surprised, he pulled the trigger once more with the same result.

“Is the gun broken? Why won’t it shoot?” he asked Lin Lan, astonished.

“Out of bullets,” Lin Lan’s lips twitched several times before she muttered, “Idiot.”

“What?” Although Lin Lan’s voice was soft, Luo Ziling clearly heard her insult and couldn’t help but feel annoyed and angry. “Did you just call me an idiot?”

Lin Lan merely gave him a disdainful glance and took the gun from his hand.

“Go check your score,” she said, feeling a bit remorseful for belittling him and quickly changed the subject.

Luo Ziling glared at Lin Lan and trotted to the target.

However, seeing several new holes in the target, his heart swelled with happiness.

Finally, he had hit the target without missing. He carefully checked the scores: one hit the nine-ring, two hit the seven, and the others hit the three, four, and five respectively.

Luo Ziling couldn’t remember how many bullets he had fired, but in addition to Lin Lan’s bullseye, he spotted six new holes and began dancing with joy. This, however, earned him another look of contempt from Lin Lan.

“Say, can I shoot a few more rounds? I just got the hang of it,” Luo Ziling ran back to Lin Lan, grinning, “Teach me how to load the bullets.”

“Didn’t bring any,” Lin Lan took the gun from Luo Ziling’s hands and holstered it on her leg, “We’ll practice again tomorrow.”

Speaking, without waiting for Luo Ziling’s reaction, she walked away on her own.

Luo Ziling, whose mood had suddenly turned gloomy, had no choice but to follow, feeling depressed.

“Right, didn’t you also promise to teach me the combat skills you guys practice?” he asked softly after catching up with Lin Lan.

“We’ll talk about it tomorrow,” Lin Lan replied icily, glancing at Luo Ziling before ultimately adding another explanation, “Let’s go back for lunch first, I still have things to do this afternoon.”

“Alright,” Luo Ziling had no choice but to not ask anything more.

After following Lin Lan back to her room, she told him to take a shower first while she went to get their food.

But Luo Ziling ended up not listening to her, not showering since he hadn’t sweated much that day.

When Lin Lan returned with the food, she saw that Luo Ziling hadn’t showered and gave him a curious look, but didn’t ask anything.

Today’s meal was still quite lavish, but Lin Lan hardly spoke during it, which made Luo Ziling feel somewhat downhearted.

“What’s the matter, not happy?” Luo Ziling finally couldn’t hold back and asked.

“I’m thinking,” Lin Lan looked up at him, then continued eating.

“Okay,” Disturbing someone deep in thought wasn’t very ethical, so Luo Ziling eventually chose to keep his mouth shut.

But to Luo Ziling’s surprise, Lin Lan added another comment, “In a couple of days I have to go out, I won’t be able to pick you up.”

“Where to?” Luo Ziling asked curiously.

“Top secret.”

“When will you be back?”

“Top secret.”

“What will you be doing?”

“Top secret.”

Luo Ziling felt awkward, forgetting to swallow the mouthful of food, was this a parrot?

But after thinking about it, he kind of understood what was going on.

“Are you going on a mission? If so, be careful, your injury hasn’t fully healed yet!”

This concerned remark from Luo Ziling caused Lin Lan’s eating motions to stiffen slightly, but she ultimately said nothing.

After eating, Lin Lan was also ready to take Luo Ziling back.

They had just stepped out of the building when they happened to see Falcon and Mountain Eagle, dressed in military uniforms, walking over.

Luo Ziling also noticed their ranks, one was a lieutenant with one bar and two stars, the other a major with two bars and one star.

Seeing the two of them smiling at him, Luo Ziling greeted them politely, “Hello.”

The two replied with a smile, looked at Luo Ziling, then at Lin Lan, revealing meaningful grins, looking rather lewd.

Lin Lan instantly became annoyed, sending a kick flying towards Falcon and then bellowed, “Scram!”

Falcon scrambled away in a panic, and after Mountain Eagle glanced a couple more times, he too fled along with Falcon.

Their strange behaviors left Luo Ziling quite puzzled.

However, as he turned around, he saw Lin Lan’s face filled with discomfort…
