Chapter 273: 270: The Second Escapee

To deal with the pursuit, Lisa had hardly stepped out of her hotel room in three days; even her meals were delivered by the hotel’s room service.

She was well aware that strength was not her forte. Perhaps she could handle one or even two pursuers, but any more than that, and physical exhaustion was inevitable. For this reason, she had to come up with some special methods.

“You two, break through the main entrance. Fourth Brother, you come and wait downstairs with me.”

Lisa’s room was on the second floor, one level lower than before. Boss was extra cautious, blocking off all possible escape routes.

Second Brother and Third Brother, clutching the room card, arrived at Lisa’s door. Under normal circumstances, they would have broken down the door in a bust, but since they had communicated with the hotel, they chose the more convenient method.

However, this approach had its drawbacks: using the room card was slower than a forced entry and came with a burst of electronic noise. But that didn’t matter much, as the only escape routes for the target were two: the main door or jumping out of the window.

After a confirming glance, they swiped the card, and after a beep, they kicked the door open with force.

The room was empty!

“She’s gone!”

Second Brother, noticing the open skylight, shouted into his walkie-talkie.

Boss downstairs also spotted the figure climbing out of the window and immediately pulled the trigger, but Lisa reacted just as swiftly. Instead of jumping, she leaped up and grabbed hold of a water pipe!

Both anesthetic darts hit the window instead.

What a nimble figure!

Both the audience and the team of four were slightly taken aback.

“Lisa must have practiced this more than once; otherwise, she couldn’t have been so proficient.”

Bi Fang could tell at a glance that this wasn’t her first time, that she must have practiced numerous times. Well before the operation began, she had already planned her escape route, swiftly climbing up the pipe. Her goal wasn’t to jump down, but to climb up!

She was taking this chance to get up to the third floor!

After firing two empty shots, Boss and Fourth Brother quickly reloaded. This gave Lisa enough time to climb up to the third floor, slide open a window, and roll into a room.

“Ordinarily, hotel windows cannot be opened from the outside. Lisa must have considered this. Unless she was relying on luck, she might have even spent her own money to reserve the room above hers, which would explain how she so smoothly made her way in.”

Bi Fang saw through Lisa’s tactics. Her strategy was completely different from the previous contestant with a broken leg. She didn’t aim to escape by jumping out of the window but to move upwards to avoid pursuit.

“Unfortunately, she’s been hit by the sedative now and won’t last much longer. If I’m not mistaken, she might choose to hide in one of the third-floor rooms, take advantage of the darkness beneath the light, or perhaps go even further and reserve another room on the third floor, using her last moments to hide. Escaping the building is nearly impossible now.”

Capturing Lisa was only a matter of time.

When the team of four reached the third floor, it didn’t take long for them to find Lisa in the bathroom, close to losing consciousness.

The audience felt a pang of regret; no one expected the first contestant to fail so soon.

But it was okay, three were still left.

Among them, Bi Fang only had faith in Ji Zuodong and Mugalen.

“Although Doligong is from the Forest Park Firefighting Team and is very adept at wilderness survival, he has never undergone professional anti-surveillance and escape training, so it’s unlikely that he’ll evade the four-man team’s capture.”

As they spoke, the team reached Doligong’s location, and just as Bi Fang had surmised, with some effort, they also captured Doligong.

[Is it time for them to come for one of our own now?]

[Awesome, this is the first time I’ve seen a Huaxia person on this kind of show. I’m a bit excited.]

“Who said that? Strictly speaking, Old Fang was actually the first one.”

“Plus one. Master Fang is simply a genius. I never realized Wilderness Survivalist could be this entertaining.”

Ji Zuodong, an armed police special officer, in Bi Fang’s eyes, should be the best at urban combat among all participants, and escaping capture is simply out of the question for him.

“Old Fang, which are a bit more formidable, the armed police or special forces?”

“Yeah, I’d like to know too.”

As soon as the audience saw the armed police special officer, they instinctively wanted to compare him to the special forces, and with Bi Fang right there, of course they would ask the professional.

“Well…” Bi Fang paused.

“Both the Army Special Ops and the special police are classified as special forces, trained in a comprehensive set of skills, so both their collective and individual combat capabilities are very strong, nearly at the same level, but their focuses are different. The armed police are more proficient in urban combat, while the special forces are all-terrain.”

“But there’s one thing worth noting. The armed police are very skilled at subduing enemies. Special forces, when encountering an enemy during a mission, will never let the enemy speak, whereas special police, when they encounter an enemy, will first shout, ‘Don’t move, drop your weapon,’ with subduing them being the priority.”

“Special police are responsible for maintaining social order and fighting crime, while special forces carry out national missions. However, with the prevalence of terrorists today, special forces are also involved in counter-terrorism.”

“A word from you is worth more than a lecture from anyone else.”

“So after all that, who’s really stronger?”

“This actually still depends on the individual. Although they are all special forces, there is still a difference in level among individuals. Under the same training process, some people just turn out to be stronger.”

Seeing that the audience was determined to dig deeper, Bi Fang didn’t hold back and candidly said, “If he were to fight me, chances are he wouldn’t be able to beat me.”

The armed police special officer is on par with the special forces.

But Bi Fang is not your average special forces member. He is a Special Recon Soldier who has trained at the Hunter Academy and possesses a refined Tai Chi Traveling Dragon skill. In terms of hand-to-hand combat, he is definitely much stronger.

Having professional combat skills makes a huge difference. When Bi Fang faced Legoff, he was actually firmly in control, clearly holding the upper hand in their first few encounters, with less danger than Legoff faced.

As the commentary continued, Ji Zuodong was also confronting the group of four head-on. Almost at the first glance, Ji Zuodong made a move that the audience was all too familiar with.

Throwing his coat!

Bi Fang had demonstrated this move long ago. When faced with something unexpected, people’s instinctive reaction is to use their eyes to track it, to prevent any danger from arising.

This brief moment is enough for someone to make a getaway.

In the instant the group of four was distracted, Ji Zuodong turned to flee, but upon flashing around a corner, he didn’t continue to run. Instead, he looked around, picked up a large trash can to empty it, and with a few leaps, arrived at a ground-floor windowsill with the trash can in tow.

As soon as Boss, the first to charge in, got close, Ji Zuodong violently threw the trash can over him, completely enclosing him!

The trash can hit its mark, and Ji Zuodong quickly advanced, using Boss as a shield on one hand and reaching for the tranquilizer gun in his hand with the other. With a simple joint lock, he stripped away Boss’s tranquilizer gun in an instant.

Before everyone else could react, Ji Zuodong had no intention of having a stand-off with the gun. He lifted the gun, aimed at Third Brother, and was about to shoot.

Unfortunately, he didn’t hit his target, but Ji Zuodong wasn’t annoyed. He kicked Boss to the ground and continued his escape.

Although he had retired a long time ago, Ji Zuodong’s skills hadn’t declined. He continued to ambush, successfully “taking out” two members of the group of four, and successfully escaped.

The second escapee appears!

“It seems my skills haven’t fallen behind.”

Having been informed by the show’s crew to return, Ji Zuodong faced the camera with a hearty smile; he was the true embodiment of someone who had forcefully escaped capture.

With that, fifteen of the sixteen contestants had been attempted for capture, leaving only Mugalen as the show was about to officially start.

As the earliest contestant the audience had been acquainted with, could he pull off a successful challenge?

The audience wasn’t the only curious one—Bi Fang was too.
