Number One Dungeon Supplier

Chapter 2021: The Night Portal

This was also because Jin had given a \'casual\' order to state that if anyone who lost their life in the dungeon due to stupidity would have their entire family executed as well.

Upon using the loved one as collateral, most of the workers did not dare to defy that order and they worked carefully, taking care of any possible problems that might appear in the dungeon portals.

And just as everything was going well in Portal 2 and 3, allowing them to close it after mining and collecting every single metal piece, Portal 4 which was a Rank F+ dungeon had suddenly changed coloured and turned Rank E-.

This caused the adventurers who were fighting Halfing Orcs to suddenly encounter a variant of the Halfing Orcs and this caused the adventurers who remembered the King\'s orders to fall back and get out of the portal in an orderly manner. Questo who was watching carefully through the magic eyes that had been broadcast above the kingdom felt relieved.

It was then he realised that the King did not put up the Magic Eye just for fun or to monitor bad apples.

It was to monitor the possible and potential dangers that may occur which would need the kingdom to react as a whole if necessary. And those who have their husbands, wives, close friends, or even their own blood kin gone into the portal, it provided them some sense of awareness of what their fellow adventurers were braving through.

With the Variant Halfing Orcs appearing in the dungeon, Questo quickly called out to his guild workers to prepare medical aid as well as organising another group of adventurers if there were any on call. To his surprise, there were indeed quite a few adventurers who were watching the very same magic eye broadcast as him and they had already made their way to the central square in order to aid.

Even the gangsters of Ress were coming in which surprised Questo. At first, his guild workers did not allow them to come in and there were guards who were prepared to shoo them off but Questo told them to lower their weapons.

"I assume you are here to earn some gold."

"Heh, seeing those Halfing Orcs running around so freely in that dungeon makes me want to go in and hunt a few for myself and my boys. You got a problem with that?" One of the gang leaders stepped up to tell Questo right in the face. Those who knew this group understood that they were Red Vipers, one of the mid rank gangs that were residing in the Lower portion of Ress where the slums were located.

"People need to eat. If you and your gang kill them cleanly and bring them out. I will let you have the best cuts of the Halfing Orcs and a small fee for your trouble. Does that sound fair to you?" Questo asked kindly and the leader spit at Questo\'s leg while raising his hand. However, Questo ignored the initial gesture and took the offer.

The guards were a little offended at the lack of respect the Red Vipers were giving Questo but the Guildmaster of the Adventurer\'s Guild knew that the Red Vipers were fairly strong.

Even though there were adventurers who came to aid with the situation, this was not the time for a mishmash group to enter in order to save the adventurers\' who were fleeing from the variant halfing orcs who were running and shooting deadly stone projectiles towards the adventurers along with the aid of Two Tooth Rabbits that this variant Halfing Orcs were on chasing the adventurers.

An uncoordinated team would only bring more trouble to the retreating party but unlike the Red Vipers, who had been ganging up on innocents or against the other gangs in Lower Ress had more than sufficient teamwork even though their tactics seemed rather shoddy.

"BUT NO FIRE! WE NEED THE FOREST!" Questo shouted at the Red Vipers even though they rushed in cheering at the thought of fighting once permission had been granted to aid the retreating group. That was why when the adventurer\'s team saw people coming towards them, they initially thought that they had been surrounded by enemies.

It was not until a Red Viper archer shot an arrow against a Two Tooth Rabbit that they slowly understood that those people were helpers too.

It did not take long for the Red Vipers to clash against the Variant Halfing Orcs who were using slightly modern weapons as compared to the Halfing Orcs that they had fought against. Instead of stone spears and makeshift wooden shields, that variant Halfing Orcs made use of metal shards, some were crystalised as well and their armour was full.

This proved quite a challenge for the Red Vipers too but it was nothing they could not handle since their teamwork and the use of forest was part of their forte. Especially since they attributed to quite a fair bit of banditry in the woods when Ress had a beautiful lush northern region.

But now that it was different from usual, it was refreshing and nostalgic to a certain extent for the Red Vipers to use the environment to their advantage. The adventurers who were of Rank F and F+ saw that despite the strength of the Red Vipers, they knew that more Halfing Orcs were coming so those few who were injured returned but those who could still fight attempted to support the Red Vipers.

It was a difficult task considering how the Red Vipers were not just violent but they were unpredictable, and this made it hard for most adventurers to aid in the situation. The ones who carried the weight were the ranged physical and magical classes.

The melee class adventurers merely guarded the flanks to make sure that the Red Vipers did not get ambushed by the sides and they could focus on killing the enemies.

Soon, a few more adventurers entered including an army mage or two who was of a higher Rank than E- to clear the place.

It was no doubt bloody since the Halfing Orcs used their numbers to dwindle the Red Vipers but the care the gangsters received was rather immediate as they noticed that there was an adventurer who was giving out orders as if he was commanding the battlefield with just his fingertips.

It did not take long for the Red Viper to recognise his abilities and for the rest of the night, the Red Vipers along with the remaining adventurers listened to this particular tactician to hold their position. There were a few Red Vipers and adventurers who subsequently withdrew due to injuries but new ones popped up almost immediately.

Some of them were even those who got injured not too long ago and wanted to enter the fight instantly.

It was not advisable but the strategy worked. As long as the portal was open, people could enter in and out without any trouble. The only problem was the number of people that could go in. Apparently, the portals were already considered to be weirder than the rest since most dungeon portals do not allow more than 5 or six people to enter. And yet for this portal, they were allowing up to 50 people.

"Questo also found out that as long as the dungeon portal had been cleared, barring the secret places, there was no limit to the amount of people that could enter so it made Questo believe that this could possibly be a limit set by the King rather than the dungeon itself. He could not confirm it but that was his gut feeling telling him as such.

But even though his thoughts were filled with lots of questions about the dungeon portal, one thing was for sure. This portal that suddenly increased to Rank E was tremendously bountiful. As long as the team managed to clear it, the Questo believed that this food supply that was on the floor could last feed the entire Ress for at least 3 days.

And that was those that were on the floor and not the Halfing Orc village which they wanted to raid initially.

"The Discarded King should be happy with this progress," Questo said as he could see how this dungeon portal thing was going to be the livelihood of the Ress for the next month or so.
