Chapter 2055: That Slight Northern Expansion -Part 1
Compared to a few months ago where they had utterly beaten him to a 1 v 1 fight, the Royal mage General had also been participating in almost every single Kraft training that had been conducted. Yes. He did just that to ensure that he was in tip top condition as well as to stay a cut above the rest.
Lord Kraft did not give quarters to the General and gave him what he truly deserved, a hell of his own unmaking. He fought against monsters that Jin had fought before without handicaps that Gara could not have dreamt of.
From being persistently poisoned to being literal handicapped and attempt to fight in such circumstances to ensure that he can achieve victory. It was to the point that Lord Kraft even knelt down once before him and congratulated that there was nothing for the Devil Fox to teach.
Of course that was a lie but given the circumstances, Kraft believed that what he had imparted was more than enough for him to go along, defeating the S Ranks monsters by himself.
And if there was ever an EX rank monster, Kraft had no doubt the General can hold a few on his own too and come out alive. That was the amount of confidence the Devil Fox had for the Royal Mage General. And its all because Kraft wants to make sure that Jin survives.
Even though there was a change in System both Kraft and Jin were actually vulnerable to death in this world compared to where Kraft was all invincible. Even though there was no way to confirm this fact, Lord Kraft explicitly felt that within his bones and his sixth senses were never wrong.
That was why he needed to make sure that Gara could at the very least take on an EX Rank Angel if shit hits the fan, thus the immersive and immensely difficult training.
To be honest, Kraft thought that the Royal Mage General might not be able to make it because the other Grand Sage\'s disciples could not survive even a standard S Rank dungeon. They do not possess that kind of tenacity that Gara had for some reason despite the fact that they were more talented than him.
Kraft took the chance to peek into Gara\'s memories and thoughts once and realised that he was actually waiting for such a chance to happen. He would be loyal to the person who would give him the best combat experience ever even if there was a need to betray Ress.
The idea of it was so perverse that even Kraft need to periodically keep in check by giving ridiculous yet creative handicaps to ensure that Gara was satisfied with fighting.
However, it seems like Kraft eventually caught the signs in the stars that Gara wants to genuinely fight with Kraft in an all out battle with everything they ever got. That was where Kraft decided to draw the line and voluntarily surrendered to Gara in hopes that he abandon such thoughts for the sake of his King.
It was heartening to know that Kraft still keeps his word that he will protect Jin to the best of his abilities and that was why Jin as much as he dislike Kraft\'s more than occasional insanities, trusted him with his life.
And thus in turn, Jin was glad that Gara was still able to keep the Royal Mage General title and worked for the betterment for the Ress\' Army.
"As briefed the day before, we finally going to war with the demons. All those trainings in the dungeons, we shall see whether they can provide the results that we want by today." Gara ordered and everyone had a devilish smile on their faces.
"Sir! Yes Sir!" The said in unison and started to wear their battle gear as Gara told them to meet him in his tent for the mission briefing.
This was finally the day.
Jin and the other ministers had talked about this informally through a dinner at the Royal Palace about a month ago and they finally going to take action of pushing through the northern regions, subsequently expanding the isolation barrier as well.
The King had fulfilled his duties of building the new blocks of building in the Noble Quarters, revamping them to the very same apartment buildings like the Commoners\' Residence. The only difference was the there were now penthouses and a few blocks were constructed with bigger rooms in mind. It was to cater to the higher class people and he did charged a premium for it.
The train railways were also finally constructed and that means the flow of goods and human capital to the north would be much easier to fulfil as well. Because even if the Rifle Mage Battalions were successful in their raids, and Jin was able to expand the isolation barrier, the flow of materials to clean the place up and start building would be substiantial as well.
Therefore, it was better to start stockpiling at the north and move in when the time is right. Not to mention, Jin can only open the isolation barrier for a limited time without compromising its integrity. Open more than its allocated time, the entire barrier would be weakened where it was possible for the surrounding kingdoms to see its weakness and attack it before it repairs itself.
Jin tried to circumvent it with improvised smithing but for some reason, it was not working for it at all. "Perhaps, it did not detect it as an object?" Mr Hammer reasoned but Jin could not understand whether if this was a temporary obstacle until he got a higher rank or it was due to the spell originating from his world.
Regardless, he could still reinforce it with Maqi but it will still take time so the best way to ensure that it maintained its integrity was that the Rifle Mage Battalions were swift in their attacks.
