地震时怎样保护自己

Chapter 54 - 54: As If An Old Friend Returns (2)

Lu Weixi, whom he threw aside, looked stunned and took a long time to get up.

She wasn’t much hurt by being hit today. However, he pinched and grabbed her, leaving her bruises all over her body. If anyone didn’t know better, they might think she was really badly hurt.

She didn’t understand what Qin Zhiyou was up to. His recent actions had been increasingly elusive; she couldn’t figure him out.

She hurriedly got up and locked the bathroom door. She was not in the mood to continue, so after rinsing quickly, she dried herself and left the bathroom. After changing into her pajamas and doing her skincare routine, she could faintly hear movement from the study. Qin Zhiyou must have gone there.

As Lu Weixi lazily applied her eye cream, a sudden thought made her pause. Could it be that Qin Zhiyou knew what had happened to her today, so he’d come back on purpose?

But then she thought again, how could that be possible? She didn’t post anything about it on her social media, and she didn’t tell anyone after she got home, not even Aunt Hao. He’d never even been to her company. The only person he could have heard it from, Xiaochen, didn’t even understand the relationship between her and Secretary Wang and certainly wasn’t one to spread information.

Moreover, even if he did find out, would he really come back just because she was slightly injured?

She chuckled, not finding the thought amusing. She herself didn’t believe it.

Qin Zhiyou was the man who had once cruelly pushed her into a swimming pool. Although they’d had their share of nights together during their five years of marriage, she knew his mindset well. If they couldn’t divorce, they may as well make the best of it. He was, after all, handing out fifty thousand a month, so there was no point not taking advantage.

With this realization, she let out a long breath. After finishing her skincare routine and treating her wound, she tidied up, prepared to turn off the lights and rest. She was a bit apprehensive that Qin Zhiyou might come and disturb her, so it took her quite some time to fall asleep.

Luckily, she slept undisturbed through the night. She woke only when it was light. The next day was another day on the outdoor project, so she didn’t need to go to the company early. At breakfast, she found that Qin Zhiyou was already gone.

With him gone, she felt relieved. She leisurely finished her meal, then got into her small car and drove to work.

At the same moment, at Hanhai Leisure Center.

After a game of tennis, Mr. Li came down holding his racket and laughing heartily, “Mr. Qin, I didn’t expect you to ask me out today.”

Qin Zhiyou looked apologetic, “I’m sorry. I had too much to drink last night and had to leave halfway through.”

Mr. Li also laughed, “I can’t drink much either. My stomach doesn’t tolerate it well. Besides, I have to get home early, or I’ll be locked out.”

“Locked out?” Both Yu Sixing and He Weiyou, who were listening, found it funny, thinking this was something meant for teenagers.

Mr. Li nodded, “Yes, it’s my wife’s rule. I’m not as young as I once was; it’s good to be more cautious.”

Hearing this, Qin Zhiyou nodded after a while, “You two seem to have a good relationship.”

Mr. Li seemed a bit emotional, “My wife and I had our ups and downs too. When we were young, we liked to play around so much that our family was almost ruined. Fortunately, we had the chance to make up for it. Let’s settle on our cooperation as discussed, and I’ll have my lawyer come around to discuss the contract.”

After sending Mr. Li off, Yu Sixing glanced at Qin Zhiyou, who was deep in thought, and noticed a traffic ticket poking out of his pocket. He tried to take it, but Qin Zhiyou snatched it back quickly.. Then a thought occurred to Yu Sixing, “This ticket, it wouldn’t be Lu Weixi’s, would it?”
