The Young Urban Doctor

Chapter 206: Should I Leave the Door Open for You Tonight?

On the way back, Lin Lan drove so fiercely that Luo Ziling felt terribly uncomfortable and nearly got carsick.

It wasn’t easy, but once they finally arrived at the school and the car stopped, Luo Ziling let out a sigh of relief. However, he didn’t get out of the car immediately. Instead, after glaring at Lin Lan for a while, he said to her in an icy tone, “Have Shanque pick me up tomorrow.”

Lin Lan glared back at Luo Ziling angrily but did not respond.

“I don’t like being around women who repay kindness with enmity,” Luo Ziling said with an annoyed expression.

Lin Lan still did not speak, just looking at him unwaveringly.

Ignoring Lin Lan’s anger, Luo Ziling continued, “Also, after treating Li Haiyang tomorrow, I’m going to interrupt the treatment for a while to see the effects. Tomorrow is September 28th, and the day after, we have our military training performance—I don’t want to miss it. The day after that, September 30th, is the summary of our military training and the announcement of the new semester’s plans; I might have to leave for a trip in the afternoon. The next treatment can wait until after the National Day holiday.”

After saying this, Luo Ziling jumped out of the car.

“I’ll be here waiting for you at eight tomorrow,” Lin Lan shouted at Luo Ziling, who had jumped out of the car, then she sped off with a push of the accelerator.

Watching the Hummer military vehicle crazily charge towards the school gate, Luo Ziling felt another wave of frustration.

It was past four in the afternoon by the time he got back to his dorm, and taking advantage of his roommates still being at military training, Luo Ziling hurriedly took a shower. After showering, he took out his phone, and seeing that, as usual, there were many WeChat messages, he picked the important ones to read. He ignored messages from people who didn’t matter.

Yang Qingyin had sent him a message half an hour ago.

“Junior, you went out to treat someone again, didn’t you? Hehe, when will you be back?”

Luo Ziling replied to the message immediately, “Just got back. I’ll come out to see you right after a shower, ready for your big meal.”

Seeing that Ouyang Huihui had also sent him several messages, he quickly opened them to read.

“Luo Ziling, did you skip military training again today?”

“Are you free tonight? I have something to discuss with you, about Li Jiaqing. I want to talk to you in person.”

“Did you go treat my sister?”

“You jerk, not replying to my messages; I’m so angry at you.”

After thinking for a while, Luo Ziling replied, “I was out and just got back. Didn’t check my phone, so I didn’t know you’d messaged me. I’m busy tonight, let’s talk about Li Jiaqing’s matter some other time.”

A friend nicknamed “Yue” had also sent him two messages, “Went to treat someone today? You’re so capable,” followed by several thumbs-up emojis.

“The National Day holiday is coming. Are you planning to go on a trip?”

After thinking for a moment, Luo Ziling replied, “I went to help a senior with treatment. It has been a while since the treatment started, and we’re seeing the initial effects. For the National Day holiday, I’ve made plans with a classmate to go traveling.”

Ouyang Feifei had sent him a text message, “You haven’t treated me for several days now, when will we resume?”

After thinking for a while, Luo Ziling replied to Ouyang Feifei, “How about tomorrow afternoon, after our military training performance? You can come to pick me up.”

Ouyang Huihui’s reply came back immediately.

“An important matter, and you don’t have time to deal with it?” followed by several angry emojis.

“I’ve promised your sister I’d treat her tomorrow afternoon, let’s talk about it together then,” Luo Ziling replied quickly.

Just then, Yang Qingyin called, and he hurriedly answered.

“Junior,” Yang’s gentle voice came through the phone, “are you ready to enjoy the big meal your senior has prepared for you?”

“Just finished taking a shower. When are you planning to leave, Yang?”

“Now?”

“Okay, let’s meet outside the east side door then. Do we need a password?”

Yang Qingyin couldn’t help but giggle, “Are you really taking this like some underground agent?”

“Just to make sure we recognize each other!”

“Anyway, I’ll definitely recognize you. If you don’t recognize me, then I’ll just ignore you and invite some other guy to a fancy dinner.”

“Alright, I’ll make an effort to recognize Yang then.”

After a bit of playful banter, the two hung up the call.

He didn’t look at the messages on his phone anymore, groomed himself in the mirror a bit, and also took along that Apple phone he hadn’t used yet. He was used to a Redmi and didn’t know how to use an iPhone, and he didn’t want to ask Cao Jianhui, who used this model, for fear of being laughed at.

Just as he got himself ready and was about to leave the dorm, Cao Jianhui, Li Fuming, and Wu Longjiang, who had just finished military training, came back.

“Boss, looking sharp, got a date?” A sweaty Cao Jianhui sized up Luo Ziling and teased with a smile, “Even more formal than when you went to that banquet.”

“Boss, are you going on a date with Yang?” Li Fuming made suggestive gestures and asked Luo Ziling slyly, “Should we leave the door unlocked for you tonight?”

“Keep talking nonsense, and I’ll throw each of you out,” Luo Ziling threatened fiercely.

His threat was quite effective; Wu Longjiang, who had been about to join in the teasing, immediately shut up, not daring to say more.

Cao Jianhui and Li Fuming just laughed sheepishly, not daring to continue their teasing.

Satisfied, Luo Ziling told the three guys that he was going out to eat and then left with big strides.

“Should we go check it out?” Wu Longjiang, full of gossip, whispered the proposal.

“What’s there to see? Do you really want to get beaten up by the Boss?” Cao Jianhui retorted irritably, “We already know he’s involved with Yang Qingyin, why follow them? Do you want to see them kissing or something?”

“I do want to see how they get intimate,” Wu Longjiang admitted, scratching his head sheepishly.

“Low taste,” Cao Jianhui said dismissively, flipping him the bird before going to take a shower.

When Luo Ziling ran to the east gate, Yang Qingyin just happened to come out.

Just as the two met up, Yang Qingyin’s phone rang.

She pulled out her phone and saw the caller ID, her face changed, but in the end, she answered the call.

“Mom,” she greeted the person on the other end after picking up.

Although Luo Ziling was standing close by, he couldn’t hear the voice on the other end clearly and didn’t want to eavesdrop, deliberately stepping away a bit.

“You guys promised me freedom, so why go back on your word now?” Luo Ziling could still hear what Yang Qingyin said.

It was unclear what Chen Qiaoyu said on the other end, but Yang Qingyin’s tone softened, “Alright, I got it. I’m busy during the National Day holiday, so I might not come home. How about I come back tomorrow night? We can have dinner at home, and we’ll call Qingye too. But I don’t want to hear a long lecture from you two. Yes, I will, and if he’s willing, I’ll bring him over for dinner.”

As she said this, Yang Qingyin looked straight at Luo Ziling, her eyes a bit strange.
