365-Day Trial Marriage With Hunk: Wife's A Little Wild

Chapter 163: Came Back without a Word

Catching sight of Chen Xin standing before the sofa, she quickly forced a smile, “Secretary Chen, did you need me for something?”

“Miss Qin, Mr. Jie had me tell you that his meeting won’t end until at least noon, he hopes you’ll wait to have lunch together,” Secretary Chen informed her.

“Noon…” Qin Youxuan was taken aback and then glanced up at the time. It was already 11:30.

No wonder he would have Secretary Chen remind her. Was he afraid she might leave without him?

“Gulp…”

Qin Youxuan swallowed, she hadn’t felt it until Secretary Chen pointed it out, but she was genuinely hungry.

She hadn’t had much for breakfast and Dan Hanjie had frightened her into claiming she was full.

In addition to wanting to step out, she obviously couldn’t admit to not being full.

Now he had to have a meeting and she had to wait an extra half-hour, it was driving her crazy…

“Does he have this many meetings every day?” Qin Youxuan pursed her lips, complaining discontentedly.

He can have his meetings, but she was hungry and would eat on her own. Why did he insist on making her wait?

Tantrums just so she could have a hard time, just so he could have a hard time.

Egregious!

“Dan Group’s industries span numerous sectors, requiring monthly reporting. The end of the month is the busiest time, add to that the overseas branches…” Secretary Chen gave a brief explanation that quickly overwhelmed Youxuan.

She had no idea how Dan Hanjie managed it all on his own.

Did he have three heads and six arms?

“Alright, I’ll wait for him here.” Qin Youxuan decided to ignore his egregious actions due to her sympathy for him and reluctantly agreed to wait.

“Miss Qin, would you like anything to drink? I can get something prepared for you,” Secretary Chen inquired respectfully.

As the first woman brought into Dan Group by Mr. Jie, the whole group was extremely curious. Chen Xin, being capable of holding the position of chief of the president’s secretary room, was naturally more disciplined than most.

Even if she was equally curious about Miss Qin, she never allowed it to be seen.

She was fully devoted to her work.

“No need, I’m fine with just plain water, you don’t need to attend to me.” Qin Youxuan, whose impression of Secretary Chen who had helped her was positive, waved her hand, then returned back to the couch.

“I won’t disturb you anymore.” Secretary Chen bowed her head slightly and left.

“Once I’m hungry, I can’t seem to concentrate on anything…” Sometime later, Dan Hanjie still hadn’t returned and Qin Youxuan’s stomach was growling incessantly.

“It’s already noon, that lying Big Devil, why isn’t he here…” Qin Youxuan rolled around on the couch, hugging her files, clearly upset.

“Buzz Buzz”

The sudden sound of her phone ringing gave Qin Youxuan a startle.

As she grabbed her phone and saw who was calling, she froze.

It was only after several seconds of hesitation that she answered the call, “Ziqi?”

“Xuan, it’s me. I’m back in the country,” came the response.

“When did you get back?” Qin Youxuan was struck dumb, then promptly asked.

She had been friends with Meng Ziqi since they were children. Before Qin Youxuan went abroad, Meng Ziqi was one of the few good friends she had, but they lost contact as they grew older.

Had they not run into each other abroad where Meng Ziqi was studying a year ago, Qin Youxuan might have completely forgotten about her childhood friend.

She had successfully introduced her to Jin Chenye, little knowing that later he would turn out to be her biological brother.

And Meng Ziqi became the only one who knew about their relationship, Qin Youxuan didn’t know how to face her. Given the mess it was, she chose to keep quiet and return to China.
